I’m a licensed attorney, registered yoga teacher, and licensed massage therapist. I’m also an Air Force veteran and cancer survivor. After 12 years of practicing law, I needed a break to do something completely different, so I taught yoga and attended massage school in 2016 while I recovered from burnout and compassion fatigue.

Small Business Owner

In 2017, I opened Iowa Seeker Wellness to provide yoga & massage. I provided a variety of massage modalities, private yoga, and offered Embodiment: A Yoga Experience for Women, in addition to teaching yoga for a corporate client, at local studios, and at the VA Hospital for veterans in treatment for substance abuse or PTSD.

The Law Beckons Again

Midway through 2017, I began missing the law. I completed additional education in business law, as well as attended multiple talks, seminars, and workshops on business. In 2018 I opened Regenold Law Office, PLLC., where I advise health & wellness business owners through startup and beyond.

Training & Experience

I graduated from Boston University School of Law in 2003; I was admitted to practice law in Massachusetts in 2003 and in Iowa in 2004. After working briefly for a mid-size firm, I accepted a position with the State Public Defender of Iowa and worked there from 2005 to 2015. I handled a variety of cases at the trial and appellate level, from misdemeanor thefts, driving offenses, and drug charges up to sexual abuse, kidnapping, and murder. I was named Attorney of the Year by the Iowa Public Defender Association in 2015.

I have always loved to learn, which grew into a passion for teaching. Over the years I have taught legal research & writing, English as a second language, yoga, and business & marketing. I love meeting my students where they are to help them understand and apply new concepts.

Currently I teach legal research & writing for students in the paralegal program at DMACC. I taught business & marketing at Body Wisdom Massage Therapy School in 2017 and 2018.

Yoga & Massage

I earned my 200-hour yoga teaching certification at Balance Yoga Lounge in Ankeny, Iowa, in 2015. In 2016 I completed certification in private yoga with Kate Connell and the Art of Teaching Private Yoga, and then furthered my yoga studies in 2016 by attending a weeklong Trauma-Sensitive Yoga immersion with David Emerson and Jenn Turner of the Trauma Center. I’m a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance.

I completed massage training at Body Wisdom Massage Therapy School in Urbandale, Iowa, in 2016.  I’m a licensed massage therapist and a member of the America Massage Therapy Association.

Business Name

A Seeker at Heart

The name Iowa Seeker Wellness came from who I am – a seeker. I am a spiritual and curious person, always seeking to learn and understand more. I’m also a native Iowan, although I’ve lived all over the country and in other parts of the world. Iowa Seeker Wellness began as the Iowa Seeker blog in 2013.

Just Add Wellness

When I opened my yoga & massage business in 2017 I already had a website and a logo that I wanted to continue to use, so I added wellness to the name. I knew that my business would evolve to include more than yoga & massage, so I chose a business name that evolve with me.
